These steps are not about perfection. Instead, preparing before your cleaner arrives helps maximize the value of your appointment and ensures every visit delivers the best possible results.
1. Clear the Floors
Please do your best to pick up items from the floor before your cleaning appointment. This includes children’s toys, clothing, shoes, and pet toys. Clear floors allow our team to sweep, mop, and vacuum efficiently and thoroughly. Because clear floors allow full access, your cleaner can vacuum and mop more thoroughly.
2. Tidy Up Counters & Surfaces
Counters and bathroom surfaces collect clutter quickly. Before we arrive, placing personal items in drawers or cabinets allows surfaces to be cleaned properly. As a result, kitchens and bathrooms receive a deeper and more complete clean.
3. Put Away Valuables & Important Documents
While our staff is fully background checked and vetted, we recommend securing valuables such as electronics, jewelry, sentimental items, and important documents before your cleaning.
Before we arrive, please place these items in a locked safe or a closed drawer, cabinet, or closet if possible. Our team will not open bedroom or office drawers or cabinets unless instructed by the homeowner.
If valuables are found in unsafe areas such as near drains, on the floor, or inside furniture, they will be photographed, left in place when possible, and the location will be shared with the homeowner.
4. Secure Pets Before We Arrive
Please crate or secure your pets during your cleaning if you are unsure how they may react. If your pets and our staff are both comfortable, crating may not be needed. We are happy to meet your pets ahead of time to help everyone feel comfortable.
If you are unsure, or if your pets are very friendly and may interrupt the cleaning, it is best to keep them in a separate area during the visit.
5. Leave Any Special Instructions
If there are specific problem areas or tasks you’d like prioritized, please let us know. You can communicate this verbally, by text, or by leaving a handwritten note in a visible location.
